Head of history and Politics, Mr Cillian Logue, has been teaching at LBCfor ten years. In addition to his main subjects, he also teaches Law and Philosophy. Before joining LBC, he read Law at Bristol but decided to dedicate himself to
education.
Hailing from Derry in Northern Ireland, Cillian attended the renowned grammar school, St Columb’s College, the alma mater of Ireland’s Nobel laureate, Seamus Heaney and playwright Brian Friel. He remembers his time there fondly: “My school days were an inspiration to me and they gave me a thirst for learning and a love of the idea that knowledge is precious and should be passed on from generation to generation”.
A keen musician and sportsman, Mr Logue plays a pivotal role in LBC’s enrichment programme. He teaches guitar to the budding musicians of LBC and he also plays an active role in coordinating the five-a-side football events at Middlesex University. He finds that the students love these enrichment aspects of life at LBC: “After intense and focused days in the studious environs of Burroughs House, the students relish the opportunity to forget their studies for an hour or two and clear their heads through exercise, fun, competition, and music”.
As a long-standing and valued staff member, Mr Logue, naturally, views the evolution of LBC through the lens of the historian: “Year on year, the students, staff and facilities have been approaching excellence. LBC has guided hundreds of students to attain their desired university courses”. When he is not teaching at LBC, Mr Logue writes, records, and produces music for films. He is an avid reader and is a fan of the essay form. His favourite writers include Flann O’Brien, Gore Vidal, and Noam Chomsky.
He loves working at LBC and he looks forward to watching the continued growth and evolution of the school: “LBC is a special place to work and study for both students and staff. The friendly collegiate learning atmosphere fosters the students’ learning and produces great results time and time again.
