Dr. John Aston (Principal)
Dr. John Aston joined London Brookes College in March 2024 as Principal, bringing with him a distinguished career in accounting, finance, and management. He holds professional qualifications from the BTEC Business Studies programme, the Chartered Institute in Public Finance and Accountancy (CPFA), and the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA), in addition to an MBA. He is also a member of the British Accounting Association and has earned Diplomas in Ministry and Theology.
Dr. Aston’s extensive experience spans senior roles in both public and private sectors, including positions such as Senior Accountant and Deputy Chief Internal Auditor. In the academic sphere, he has held roles including Senior Lecturer, Head of Subject for Business and Enterprise, and Director of Learning & Teaching. Furthermore, Dr. Aston has served as a consultant to organisations like the Royal College of General Practitioners and Cable and Wireless, and as a Visiting Fellow at prestigious institutions including Reading University and Henley Business School.
His research interests include the development of audit techniques, the application of management accounting practices, and shareholder value analysis. Dr. Aston has also made significant contributions to academic assessments and has authored numerous publications focused on financial management within MBA programmes. He continues to dedicate himself to promoting international education and mentoring doctoral students.
Dr. Rexon T. Nting (Vice Principal – Higher Education)
Dr. Rexon Nting joined London Brookes College in March 2024 as Vice Principal. He holds a PhD in Finance and Accounting (University of Glasgow) and a MSc in Accounting and Finance (Gothenburg University, Sweden). He has extensive teaching experience across various universities (University of Wales at Trinity St David, University of Glasgow, and University of Dundee) designing and delivering courses in a wide range of business subjects. He is also a dedicated and prolific researcher with several publications in leading international journals, focusing on finance, economics, and development, particularly in Africa.
Dr. Nting has broad experience in university leadership and administration. He played a pivotal role in setting up a private university in Cameroon in 2009, serving on the board of trustees. Dr. Nting also headed the creation and launch of the country’s first government-licensed MBA programme, proving his commitment to developing business education in Cameroon. He is also a successful entrepreneur passionate about development in Africa. He established and managed commercial palm oil plantations in Cameroon, while also developing a new venture in the Republic of Congo aimed at job creation and poverty alleviation.
Dr. Nting brings over 12 years of experience in the UK financial services industry to his diverse skillset. He excels in administrative tasks, report writing, and communication, with fluency in both English and French. This combination of academic ability, entrepreneurial drive, and professional experience makes Dr. Nting an asset.
